Do over

Sorry that I haven't been able to post. It has been a long time! A lot of things happened that got in the way such as finishing up on my last two classes (f-you marketing research). On a brighter note, I graduated (AGAIN)! So I have more time devoted to finishing up the damn bathroom. Let's begin.

With my tax refund from Uncle Sam, I was able to rescue my truck out of the repair shop. I give you, the Jefferson Davis-

Shit. Look at that son of a bitch. Even the camera couldn't get its entirety of its wholesome awesomeness. Why the hell did I buy something so outrageously righteous? Well, at the time, I always ask my pop to haul shit with his 86' manual truck since I can't drive a stick (I am not gay). It kind of got ridiculous to drive all the way to c'ville to pick up the sumbitch and drive back. So at the police auction, I purchased her - the biggest on the lot. My sister and I have been trying to figure out what to name this bastard for months. We wanted to keep the southern feel and somehow we landed upon "Jefferson Davis" - the Preseident of the Confederatecy. I love my F350! It has the same milage as the explorer so I am spending the same on petrol. BTW, check out the reflection on the door. You can see Big B was very, very impressed with the purchase. He gave me mad props which is an honor.

Now onto the house! Where to start? Let's talk about how I added outlets to the dining room.

You can see in this picture the blue boxes. I added in I believe 3 outlets to the existing one. Here's something funny. The existing outlet was wired correctly (who knew?)! The outlet was grounded and wasn't backwards. The weird part though, it was wired to the basement outlets. I guess that's okay, but I wasn't comfortable having the outlet on the same circuit was with those in the basement. I rewired that shit to be on its own circuit then extended the 3 outlets to share it. For shits and giggles, I also added another box to contain CAT5. Yes folks, we will have ethernet in every room! I can't f-ing stand wireless and dropped signals! Currently, there are 4 ethernet plugs in the dining room. I am still debating to have one in the bathroom right beside the toilet. It would look kind of weird, but sometimes, you need the internet in the bathroom. Hell, I do.

Also, with part of my check from the gov, I splurged on kitchen cabinets. I spent about 2 grand on them bastards. My dad thought I was crazy but it was justified cause they look mother f'ing awesome! I haven't put them up though, but I measured like 12 times! They're in the attic, but sat downstairs for a while. Look at this shit:

That's a lot of cabinets and tile! Not to mention that I bought a faucet. The most expensive cabinet was a utility cabinet - 600 bucks. Luckily, they had a 20% off everything sale so I bought what I needed without feeling that bad. Also, I crossed state lines to MS because of its 7% sales tax compared to TN's raping 10%! It was worth the drive.

Back to the house, I decided to get the plumbing for the fixtures done. Here are the pics:

I thought I had more, but I guess not. So the shower was EASY to install (with the right tools). I haven't connected the waterlines yet, but it will be soon. Also, I installed the pipes for the sink (no pics) and drain. I ran an experiment concerning the jacuzzi tub (nightmare to install the pipes) to see if there were any leaks and how the pump fared. I can tell you right now, that pump is WAY TOO POWERFUL for the small tub. Whoever soaks in there will be pounded by massive jets. It's awesome. I'll post a video of it soon whenever Trey fixes the drain.

Since little one and I are out of school for the summer and the reappraisal of the home is on the verge, we decided to stage the house. We first staged the upstairs:

So we first staged the blue room (AGAIN). Then we converted Kyle's old room into a sitting room and then the panic room became a bedroom. The sunroom became an office/studio/guest bedroom. The blue room is going to be repainted into something decent. It's whatever Trey wants to paint it other than red, black, or any fraternity colors. The bedspreads doesn't serve justice (f- off and buy me a set or 4).

The sitting room:
Yeah, the pictures don't do justice either, but it looks better than it used to.

The Panic Room:

Shit yeah, it looks damn good cause I worked on it! I can make shit look like a strawberry cake!

Now the band-aid room, the sun room. I decided to make it into my office:

It doesn't look that bad..... I just need to paint and clean that bitch.

Also, we did the dining room. Here's the kicker, you know all those outlets I added in? Well, the china cabinet had to be placed there (it looked gay on the other wall). So all that work, covered up. Hell, whoever moves in after me will appreciate having 4 outlets and ehternet jacks on one wall.

Now back to the bathroom. This room is taking forever because of hiccups or other modifications. So I took out the old door and corrected the space to install a 36" door (used to be 32"). Now any fat ass kid can move right on through.

Here are pics of the hardibacker on the walls:

Now let's talk about the window. Shit, let's just look at it:

Damn, it looks soo fucking good. I tried to keep the same style with the rest of the house.
Guess how much it cost for all that wood? 80 bucks? Hell naw, around 20-30 bucks bucks (4 slices of 2x6, 4 slices of 1x4, two sticks of trim). Yup, I cut and planned the wood. It looks damn good. What's weird though, it made the windows look miraculously huge!!

The stoop/apron (bottom part of the window/sill) was the shitty part. I went to lowes and home depot and calculated how much it would cost me to get MDF trim. I was amazed that it would cost me 100 bucks. F THAT SHIT. I did it homemade. I have to round out the edges, but I'll leave that to kyle or trey. The trim makes the window look so authentic. When painted, it'll look like one whole piece. I'll add some fancey piece below the window to make it look wholesome.

I celebrated by setting on fire all the wood shavings from planning the wood for the windows:

(I'll turn this pic around)

Shit yeah.... that's a lot of saw dust.

Next step, adding drywall.

(randoms from here on)
