An open view

So this past weekend, I decided to restore/install two windows into the bathroom. I only have 10 more days until this room has to look like a bathroom for appraisal purposes. It looks like I will be taking two days off work next week- whatever. If I can save $300 a month for my mortgage payment, I'll be happy. Here's the 411.

Last weekend would've been perfect to install the windows -70's and sunshine. Well the meteorologist predicted that it was going to rain - like hell it did. So i wasted TWO perfectly good days to install windows. This weekend, it had to be done. What's also a negative point, the explorer brakes are basically gone. It had rained ALL WEEK long. Dad said "i'll get to it when it stops raining." Yup, 5 days in a row... continuous pouring. So I used mom's "prestine" minivan to transport my wares.

On Saturday, Kyle and I traveled to Southaven, MS to purchase the windows. Why Southaven? Mississippi's 7% sales tax compared to TN's POS 10% sales tax. I bought enough shit at reasonable prices to say it was worth the drive. Unfortunately, I had to shop at HomeDepot instead of Lowe's because HD had the windows at dirt cheap prices! Who knew? Well the associate that helped Kyle and I pick our window was a tranny. Let me say this first, I have nothing against them; it was just odd(it's 2009 for christ sake's people. Your 14 yr old daughter is a whore on myspace). Shim was very nice to both of us. We purchased our viynl windows and traveled back to the Clark house.

Kyle had to go to work when we got back so what I did was prepared the old windows to be removed the next day. I took the saw-saw and cut around the edges to get rid of the nails. There was still some daylight so I decided to take out the bottom-right-window for shit and giggles.

It came out real easy after using the wonderbar and prying away lots of trim which were covered in gallons of old lead paint. I didn't go further on the windows since it was nightfall. While I was at the HomeDepot, I bought the super-expanded great stuff and applied the stuff between the cracks in the wall. After taking care of that mess, I continued to sand and mud the ceiling.

Great Stuff placed in the cracks behind the lathe.

More sandin' and muddin'

Sunday. After some thinking while mudding, I should've bought wood windows instead of viynl because it was practically "framed." while the Viynl wasn't. So I drove back and picked up my wooden windows. When I got back to the house, I sta tearing down the windows. I started messing with the nonboarded up window. It was now the point of no return.

Boarded up window was next.

Definately, no point of return.

Removing the interior frame of the window was a bitch and a half. The previous douchebag that boarded up the window reinforced it with 12, 3" nails. It totally sucked trying to pry the shit off the window.

The best next door neighbor finally came home and offer to help me get the windows put up.

Howdy neighbor!

Finally, Trey called and said he was coming over. I had no idea where Kyle was. Kyle was probably abducted by aliens and was being anally probed. It was about 12:45 or so. Trey said he was brining a friend over (Jason) to help out. I am so glad he did.

Robert, Jason, Trey and I worked on reframing the window. We had to cut the window because the stupid windows, as usual, were not squared OR at equal lengths. Hell, if I had kept with the viynl windows, we would be set (damn). So here are some pics:

Here's the end result:

Last but not least- the window screens!

So here it is:
