Very late update

Not a lot of work has been going on at the Clark house. House #3 had a dead racoon/squirrel in the chimney, house #2 is literally crying on itself, and House #1 - there is always a problem with that damn house. I wish it could just burn down, collect the insurance and move on.

Anyways, with the lack of funds, I've decided to shop! Let me do a recap for the month of October. Every Saturday I visit my local Lowes on Germantown Parkway. I scoped around the clearance isle and then the plumbing isle. I spot this beauty on sale:

So guess the price? $150ish bucks from $348.56!! Now here's the kicker. I was driving mom's car so I couldn't carry it home. I told them to put it on hold along with its matching mirror. I came later on the day, walk down the isle, got help from a sales representative and carried it to my car.

The next day pops and I went to Lowes to check out some crap for the Collierville house. We walked down the clearance isle, and guess what was stored there! Another vanity with my last name on it! Oh hellz yeah. Dad saw it and was like "what is that?!" and I told him "I think it's my vanity that was placed on reserved!" So we walked out with another set. Wow.. two of them. What to do?! Well right now, they are sitting in the corner of my living room with all the other junk I seem to collect for the house.

Another purchase were toilets. Yes, white porcelain toilets. What's so special about them then? Well 1, they conserve water and 2, they're elongated! Like the biggest problem I have at the Clark house is that the toilet is small and rounded! That being said.... stuff likes to hang off or it is very cramped! Now here's the kicker- it's too big to fit in the space for the 2nd floor bathroom! I am slowly planning how to redo the bathroom. Price for two, nice toilets - 40 dollars.

I've been insulating shopping since Kyle has complained that is freaking cold in the house! Me being Asian, I've started calculating how much insulation and what kind do I need. I've decided to do cellulose insulation because:
A) it's cheap - 20 cents a square feet
B) it's easy to install
C) it's flexible
D) it's not itchy!

To put insulation in plaster walls, I decided to drill 2 inch holes between studs in the wall. In the blue room, there are plenty of holes ready to be stuffed with insulation! My drill bit became dull because plaster is like concrete - rock hard! I can't imagine how to cover the holes. I expect it to be a nightmare. But I am killing two birds with one stone. I am also installing new electrical wiring in the home! Along with the wiring, I am installing CAT5 wire at almost every electrical outlet. The reason why is because near each wall, you can put a computer or some network device there! How clever is that?! Real fancy right there! Wireless you say? Well palster walls and wireless are not very friendly at all!

I believe we're up to date now. I had purchased some crown moulding for the panic room. Well folks, one weekend Kyle and I put up two walls of crown moulding until we realized.... we had put it upside down!!!! At first, it looked okay. Then there was a part of the ceiling that was BOWED DOWNWARD! It made the room look like complete crap! And then I got all pissed off because I wasted two pieces of crown!

God, this guy did not know how to build a freaking room. Everything has to be squared! What also pissed me off that my brand new air compressor stopped working! I think it overheated with the lack of oil and locked up! Pissed off I was.

The next week after the failure, I bought some corner blocks to help save the crown. Guess how much they cost - 19 bucks a piece. Fthat mess. I can't tell you how I acquired the blocks, but I got them for at most 4 dollars a pop. Here are pics of my corner pieces that will save my crown:

So after watching paint dry for a couple of hours, I mounted the posts up on the wall. Here's the finishing product:

IT LOOKS AWESOME!! Since we flipped the crown right side up, the bowed disappeared! The corner blocks looked sooooo awesome! I wonder how much value did I add to the room?

Since I was on a roll with the crown moulding AND with a new air compressor, I decided to the floor. All the floor was missing was outer trim. If you look in the other post, you can see that there was a gap between the already existing crown and the floor. The "shoe" would cover the gap and FINALLY seal the floor! Pics:

With no "shoe"

With shoe. God, does that look good or what?!?!

Now I was experimenting with adding chair rail. I am undecided right now, but I will make a decision AFTER I install new crown for the window.

That's all now, but I am sure I will get this room done one day. The next project is to insulate the home. That sounds like fun, more fun than doing the dining room:

Oh yeah, Zach, the non-paying and non-showering Hobbit moved out. Thank god. Now I am looking for another roommate.
